My 20lt petrol. 142k has developed an intermittent fault. It will be running sweet as a nut then the %*$^ing thing stutters and cuts out. It usually happens when it has got warm (anything from 10 - 40 miles). It will usually start straight away but there will be no response when I put my foot on the accelerator and will die again and again and again. Then it will run sweet again sometimes for another 20 or so miles or 20 or so yards...B*&*Tard.
BTW there is no managment light coming on.
Any Ideas folks ??

Whats the temp gauge saying when it sputters?

Dont think its the stepper motor `cos during one of my fiddles I inadvertantly forgot to connect the wire back into the stepper motor .. it ran ok but with the same intermittent fault. Also, it will cut out/stutter when cruising on the motorway so I am not really thinking its the step motor. The temp gauge reads normal.

I'm tempted to say the problem is electronic. When was the coilpack last changed?

Coil pack never changed as far as I am aware, Ive had the car 4+ years and done 70k in it. I was looking towards the coil pack but wanted to see if anyone else has had this sort of problem before I shell out on stuff that I am not going to be able to return. ( got three boys at uni starting Sept/Oct so really need to safe some coppers)

With regards to coil packs, does a 1.8 and the 2.0 lt have the same one??. There`s one on fleebay from a 2000 reg 1.8 Rapier which I am looking at. Otherwise, where else can i get one or do I need to get ripped off at the main dealers?
