N/S Pads wear down to metal after approx 1200 miles!

New front disks and pads fitted to my 97 1.9 TD Estate in Feb. in April the disk pad warning light came on. I gnored it (stupid I know) as the pads were so new, I could believe they were worn - thought it was an electrical fault. They were down to the metal in early May and so had them replaced again and the garage said the caliper was OK ie not sticking at all (o/s pads were barely worn).

Now, 3 weeks later, the warning light is coming on again adn I suspect, n/s pads are worn out again. Any ideas what might be causing this. It has to be the caliper not freeing itself and quickly wearing the pads out - doesn't it? Could it be anything else?

Is it pulling to one side (left?) under braking? Could be all the braking is being done by one brake. This could be caused by a seized caliper on the other side rear break (the one on the same system), blockage in break pipes or other Hydraulic related problem.

First thing I would check is that the caliper is releasing, you should be able to slide it by hand and also that the other brakes are working and not seized.

doesn't pul to left or nosedive on braking. garage said pistons weren't sticking. maybe they are when they get hot?

After a normal journey, jack it up and see how freely the wheel spins?
