406 HDI 3rd gear crunch

All my gears engage fine on my car however if i floor my car a bit in second to 2500-2750 rpm and then change to 3rd gear there is a slight crunch is this because i a m going too quick or is there a problem all teh other gears are fine and get no crunching 3rd gear doesnt crunch if i dont thrash it too much andf keep it below 2000rpm ish
