key programming

hi

i have just bought a 1999 406 hdi with no keys, do i need to go to the dealers to ge the programmed or can i get a locksmith to do it, do i need a security code to programme it

forgot to say i have a new key but the ignition lights stay on when you take it out??

:shock: :shock: Sounds like your ignition lock's mangled! I hope it came with a logbook...

I think you'd need someone with the right gear to introduce the key to the car, I doubt your average locksmith would have this (a couple of phonecalls would tell you).

the ignition lock is intact, it didn't come with a log book

You bough a car with no keys and no logbook? Hmm...

Well, ok, the ignition switch, the lights just shouldn't stay on with the key out!

its not like it sounds, its a finance repo, i'll try a new ignition switch 2moro
