Mines started doing this. been some talk round hear about some bits of plastic snapping off, but i can't see anything missing on mine.

I just wedge the release in the car up and then press on the right hand slide of the flap.

Thanks for that. Usually i have people in the car so they hold it while i press the filler. But i have a feeling this may not always work :x which will result in me braking it.

My D9 came with this feature.... With my girlfriend pulling the lever up as far as it would go I could just manage to get the flap open. I wasn't sure if it was the cabin end or the fuel flap end. I went for the filler end because I thought'd end up having to take the seats and carpet out. Bad move. Flap was a bastard to get off without damaging anything and it all seemed fine, just too much slack in the cable. I stuffed a bit of tube I made in there to take up the slack which kind of fixed the problem but I'm not happy about it. One day I'll see how much of a pain it is to get to the other end.
