B***dy amatures!!!!!!!

Post by puglover »

why when a car needs fixing do "some" people just stick on any old parts???

just found out yesterday that the wrong calipers are on my car and the pad carryers.

the car failed MOT last monday and needed front discs and pads.
got the parts and when i finished the work the calipers were out so far the wheel wouldnt go back on without jamming the caliper and stop the wheel from turning.

was told the pads are wrong and to source a thinner set but now i have been informed that the calipers are off a 2.0 ltr petrol or a diesel model
this means in the past some one went to the scrapyard and just through any old parts on the car regardless of model or type...its costing me a fortune and now a headache to find which car they are from

It wouldn't surprise me too much if it came off the productiuon line like that (there was always the tale of the Escort that came off the production line with one disk brake on the front and one drum...)

Could you take the remains of the old pads along to your factors and see if they could match them up? Any numbers on anything visible?

if it came out the same factory that my old Xantia come from, it wouldn't surprise me that it wasn't them that did it.

My old Xantia needed new brake disks and pads and when it came to renew them and get some more, i found out that i needed the Estate brake disks and pads and not the ones for a saloon. seemed that the guys at the factory that day, just whacked anything on to get home early for the footie.
