Heater Matrix

Howdy all,
Ok, so this is my first diesel.. tecjnically.. my wife has a 106 derv...
Since the weathers been getting a tad colder, ive been using the heater fans in the morning on my D8 2.1TD.. problem is, they seem to take FOREVER to warm up... by which time, im at work having lunch.
Is this a diesel thing or is it worth giving the matrix a good blast out?

Is the engine coming up to temperature ok? Is it just the heater isn't very good?
The heater matrix is at the high point of the cooling system (higher than the header tank) so sometimes they don't get bleed correctly, which leads to rubbish heater performance.

Seems to take its sweet-ass time (probably because i dont nail it from cold) but yeah, it comes upto temp fine.
Do you think its worth giving it a good bleed then?

If it takes long time to come up to temp but the heat output reflects the engine temp then change the thermosat (easy job) and change the collent and bleed it up while your there.

Wouldn't giving it a quick bleed (30 seconds, and free) be a better starting point? It worked for my '6!

and a thermostat cost all of £10 and more than likely at fault

Mine seemed to be taking it's time the first winter, in traffic ok but on the move nothing but cold air, so I changed the thermostat. Or would have changed it if it hadn't been MISSING
All problems solved after one fitted.
