406 map sensor......symptoms?

Post by pugface406lx »

hello,

Can anyone help......what are the symptoms of a failing map sensor please?

my 99 V reg has been running rough for ages.....its acting as though it suddenly hits a head wind and then clears again intermittently. The EML light comes on and stays on until the engine is stopped and restarted again.

Also on engine run down there is alot of popping and banging in the exhaust like theres unburnt gases exploding there.

Could this be the Map sensor and if so how do i replace it?.......is it an easy job?

cheers

what engine have you got?
usually you get a loss of power, the K light is on (or EML), the car occasionally stalls when accelerating and changing gear can be very hard to make smooth
