Ah back again, thanks to those who helped me out with the knocking on the back end, much appreciated. I thought in return id share what knowledge ive gained since having a blowout on the back tyre, hence me taking the wheel off once again, whilst there i learnt that the " common " knocking the 6's have, i didnt such as the drop links, which i replaced today, and the anti roll bar bushes. My knocking noise, now evolved into a wobble is the bottom bush on the trailing arm, the bush just under the tie rod for wheel alignment.... bugger :( ill let ya all know how it goes and how to go about it n what not :) GSF here i come... if ya never heard of it its a european car specialist in birmingham http://www.gsfcarparts.com from what i know of em, they do keep a lot of parts for pugs in stock.

Happy puggin' all

The trailing arm bushes fail on most trailing arm designs after so many years (normally about 8 to 10 years). They don't always come up on the MOT until they're bad enough.

The new bush will need pressing in. It will make a big difference though when fitted 8)

I changed them on my Honda as the old ones were cracked and split (cost me £190.00  )

Finally changed the faulty bush, ive learned that its a nitemare and near impossible without a meaty bench vice and several sizes of sockets to bridge the bush while you push it out, for your fingers, mental health if i had another one go id take it to a garage and ask them to push the old one out and press the new one in for you, its not an easy job at all mate.

aha !!!! ive bloody won, no more knocking to drive me mad :cheesy: glad i did too, as it got to dangerous levels of play on the back end.

the knocking came from that sodding tie rod that adjusts the toe-in-out for the rear wheels, ball joint to the hub and bush to the car, sandwiched by the trailing arm, about a foot long... ya know the one, damn easy to fit, which makes a nice change. Though with doing so i do warn anyone attempting to do this job, by all means do it does cure the knock and slap happy hub, but get the back end tracked just to be sure. By coincedence i got the pearl booked in for a stainless powerflow back box fitting and asked the chap nicely if he'd just check the tracking for me while it was up in the air, but what i thought was accurate turned out to be 5mm towing out, i did mark the position of the cam washer before i took it off, but alas it was wonky, he put it back to where it should be and as a result no more knocking and a damn nice sounding backbox, all in one day :P i love saturdays

Well done Pearl! I've got the rear top links to do on mine too, sitting in a box in the lounge waiting for a spare couple of hours
