Installing a boost gauge

Hi guys,

Sorry if this has been asked before.. I did a search but didn't come up with anything useful.

New owner here.. just bought myself a '97 406 Turbo Exec with 54000 miles on it. I'm trying to install a boost gauge but can't seem to find a good place to run the vacuum line through the firewall, and I'd rather not drill a new one. Can someone point me in the right direction?

Also, I was going to plumb in to the vacuum line running off the top left of the throttle body just after the butterfly that seems to run back to a sensor in the ECU. Is there a better line to use? I couldn't seem to find anything worthwhile coming off the inlet manifold itself.

Thanks in advance.

Yeah, the forum got hacked a few weeks back so we've lost all the old posts

Nice. Seems there's a lot more tubbies out there than I thought! Either that, or all of us are on the forum now ;) Interestingly I don't think I've ever seen a turbo that's NOT 1997! hmm...

See this image for a handy hole... http://www.botchitt.com/screens/406/handyhole.jpg

Take the little cover off the side of the dash (where the door closes onto it) and you'll be able to see stuff you poke through the hole. As you can see, this is where I got my wire for the trip computer through. Dunno if it's big enough for your needs, but despite the lack of a grommet on mine, it doesn't seem to leak water inside!

I went to find this hole last night, and mine's got a grommet on it!
