Hiya peeps,
thought it would be a good idea to sort the shoes out as i dnt have much of a handbrake.
took the wheel off, took the two start screws out.... then got stuck lol
never taken a drum of before, so wondering if someone could advise me please

A few taps with a rubber mallet as you turn the drum helps shift the crud (dont breathe the dust in) then if you have a digi cam take a picture (does help to see how it SHOULD go back)

Use an old paintbrush to clean out dust n stuff then take the old stuff off & replace with 'copperslip' on the metal bearing sufaces & springs-check the shoe surface of the drum for excessive wear too

Haynes manual ias a great help for most jobs.

ok.... i seem to doing something wrong, i took the wheel off again..... removed the 2 screws and the plug thingy, bashed it with a lump of wood... and it just continued to sit their looking smug.
to be hounest, it looks like its attached to the disc. you dont ave to take the rear brakes of aswell do u??
or is it just being a bastard for me??

I think we were assuming you had drum brakes but it looks like disks-in-drums. Yes, you have to take the calliper off, it's a bolt and a hex.

becareful as the disc can have either a torx bolt or allen bolt, both of which round off very easily

Remove Brake Caliper..... < part with brake pads in (just to be sure )
remove two screws on drum...

you say disks-in-drums....?
dose that mean its one unit?? i.e the disc and drum are one?? so you have to take of the disc to take of the drum front at the same time??

what holds the disc/drum assembely to the car?? is it hard to remove?? anything i should be cautios with?? flying parts etc??

It should be an easy (No, sorry Peugeot remember!) straight forward Job.

The drum assy. is held on to the hub (and by default the car!) by the wheel bolts. The little torx screws align the drum holes with the hub holes to make sure you can get your wheel bolts through easily!

As far as removing the disc/drum, the shoes may be in contact slightly, but they should come with a little effort (not pounding with a hammer1).

The shoes do use a "jesus" spring, but it should be held in place and should not come out until you decide to remove it!

Not a hard job, just have a little confidence in yourself and give it a go.

Not quite presto, probably involve a lot of hammer, probably best to run the adjuster in the drum in first too. (take the rubber bung out and rotate the disc till you find it, somewhere near the caliper)

the disk and drum are a single piece, so you'll want new rear pads as well.

as a side thought have you tired adjusting the hand brake shoes in the drums?
