I have a 1999 406hdi (110)estate,89k millage.
over the last few months have noticed a clunking noise coming from the front when i turn the car at almost full lock. doing 3 point turns and manouvering in car parks is now a squeaky bum time as it feels as though the front end will collapse on the floor. any suggestions????

I know the usual place is the drop links but that sounds like drive shaft UJ to me. :(

it was doing it worse before i had one replaced for mot, maybe other sides gone.
if its not replaced soon whats the worst that could happen?

Driveshaft? I'm not sure, it's part of the MOT so I'd suspect something fairly dramatic.

sorry my fault, i meant the drop links.
had front passenger side done for mot but its started doing it again although nowhere near as bad as before so maybe the otherside needs looking at.
hope its only that cos she drives perfectly and has never let me down.

Aha, mine was making a racket going over bumps, not manooovering. Umm, I suspect the balljoint eventually dislocates and your handling will suffer, stacks of body roll etc. Both sides too as they're linked.

handbrake is surley made of jelly, and the "brakefluid level low" message does make passengers put there seatbelts on !!
oh and the airbag lights constant flashing adds another level of french electrical incompetance.
