My 406 has been standing for a couple of months, the brake pedal stays down when depressed. I have to hook it up with my feet, the brakes then release. before I take bits off and check the pistons for corrosion, what else should i check?
how does the pedal normaly return, is it spring loaded or does the brake servo do something?

I had sticky brake pedal and it was a sticking piston in the rear brakes.
I start checking the brakes to see if any are sticking, i d start at the back if you have rear discs.

Old thread, but it seems to be the only one for "brake pedal sticking" so I thought I'd add to it rather than create a new one.
Actually, about the time this thread was created my 406 was going through a phase when the brake pedal would always stick down and I had to kick it back up to release the brakes. It cleared itself up after a few months.
However, it always sticks if I brake very hard.
Anyway, I can feel that the brake pedal is getting a bit lazy to come back up.
I'm sure I'm well overdue for a change of brake fluid (any tips?), but what could be causing the sticking?

Before my time this thread

Reading it I'm having doubts that I know how brakes work bcause I'd have thought if a rear caliper piston was stuck the pedal would still come up because the pistons in the master cylinder act like a valve, on the way up there's nothing to stop the fluid going past the seals and this is the way more fluid goes into the system as the pads wear.
Before that I would have said obviously a master cylinder fault but now I don't know
