in all honesty unless your looking for plus 200bhp stick with 2.5inch. the guys on 205 gti drivers have done some tests on 2.0 turbo exhausts and the general consensus is 2.5 inch seems to work the best. peugeot tend to make some cracking standard exhausts, all length tuned to perfection etc. i wouldnt waste your money on a stainless one, just buy a good standard one.

cheers mike i will be going for around 200 bhp or maybe more so ill go with 3inch as i cant find a standard one in stainless anyway and i also cant find a decat for it so kinda makes sense to get it all done in 3 inch pipework

Just a note to remember if you are in the UK then you will need to refit a cat for MOT each year

I had a powerflow custom exhaust put on mine 6yrs ago only cost £240, much cheaper than OEM plus lifetime garuantee so it is not a waste of money, considering I would normaly have to replace standard exhaust every 2 or 3 yrs!
A 2.5 would be okay for 200bhp.

As far as exhaust systems og on petrol turbos, for the best performance you want the system to be as short and large a bore as possible with as little bends. Its all about restrictions. Mind you, if you're going to stick a large bore exhaust on and keep the standard downpipe + turbo elbow, there's no point.

im not sure i completely agree with you there. if the bore is too big, gas velocity is reduced to such an extent that reversal occurs which is a bad thing. if you could put up with the noise having no silencers in a turbocharged petrol exhaust is good. the turbo creates all the backpressure that the engine needs.
the turbo elbow on the xu10 engine is part of the exhaust turbine housing so the only way to change this would be to change the turbo.

Sorry mate, but the theories wrong... you dont want back pressure on a turbo'd engine.. think about it.

Why not go for a side exit?
