Hi guys,

Im a little concerned with my D8 at the moment.. I seem to be able to disengage the clutch with fairly minimal movement (compared to full travel) .. I can move it about 2/3cm and it'll rev freely... sign my friction plate is on the way out or does anyone elses 2.1 do this (thats had a recent clutch change)?

Havnt had a chance to look at it yet, but Im guessing they're hydraulic rather than cable?

Yep, it's hydraulic. All the hydraulic clutches seem to be biting right near the top, there's been plenty of complaints  Mine are both the same, biting at I suppose just over the inch. I've not had hydraulic clutch wear out on me (the last car I had with one was a 1979 Morris) but I presume they suddenly start biting higher and higher... Is this what's going on with yours?

I'll be honest, I never really paid attention to the biting point until recently.. i've only had the car about 5 months but I dont think its become worse in that time.

Its simply the fact that the clutch isnt slipping but the biting point is so high.... I just wondered if it was normally that high on these cars.

I've had a Xantia and a 406 with the same engine/clutch and they both bite when your knee is nearing your ear.

That makes me thinks it's normal as the Xantia was the same for four years and 80k.

Cheers
Steve
