engine management light

After jump starting my sons motor, the engine management light on my petrol 406 D9 has come on permenently also the warning message on the radio panel states engine anti polution control system defective.Any ideas please? also how can i get shot of it the car runs fine.

And the moral is: throw your jump leads away, the electronics on modern cars doesn't take kindly to them.

I think there's a way of resetting it (someone??) but you could try disconnecting the battery for a while.

you will need to get the fault codes read and the light extinguished. dont bother with pug though, they usually charge a ridiculous amount for the 'pleasure'.
