The wife managed to destroy one of the cables to the gearbox under the gearstick last night.Actually,it's probably gone through wear and tear. (99/110 HDi,101k.)

The offending cable has now been removed.

What cost are we looking at to replace it,bearing in mind as I have already taken the old one off,so I'm looking at the price of the cable only, and who will do the part cheapest, other than a scrapyard for which I could well be buying the same problem?

And of all days,it's went on Christmas Eve day,so I'll have to wait until either Boxing day,or Thursday to do it,and while I'm on,I think an engine service may as well be done.

Well,as you can guess,it's a dealer part, and the only one within a 25 mile radius of me that had one,was Evans Halshaw at Huddersfield.

My pocket is now £60 lighter, but the car is now mobile, and running with fresh oil.
