squeeling noise

when i turn the key without cranking the engine i get a squeeling noise for a few seconds. what is this? is it the fuel pump getting up to pressure?

There is a Low Pressure lift pump in the tank which sends Diesel upto the Filter/High Press pump this runs for about 3 seconds on ignition.
You can sometimeshear a high pitched sound in the engine bay, this is the fuel going through a thermostatic element which decides whether the fuel needs pre heating or not.
Of course it could be one of the many weird electrical noises like I get from the wing mirror and somewhere near my accelerator foot

That's funny, I get a squeeling noise whenever I either put my foot down or turn the stereo up.
I know the cause though, fortunatly she's at work this afternoon
