Fuel Filter location

I have a new fuel filter that I am waiting to fit but cannot find where it is. I have a 2001 D9 estate 2.0l Petrol and according to haynes is should be on the right side near the tank, the picture they show has it near the jacking point by the look of it, but I had my car up on axel stands today but didn't find it.

Anyone know where it hides? :?

apparently there's a cover around it. Not on mine though. I changed mine without even having to jack it up. Drivers side (uk), just behind the back door there should be a raised section near the edge which accommodates it

I will have another look in the morning, from the pic in the manual it seemed like it should be easy to find, is yours an estate or saloon?

I tried to change mine at the last service.....

After 10 mins with the man at the parts desk in my local stealers trying to find it on the parts database we decided that, despite my service schedule saying it needs changing, "computer says no" . Apparently it hasn't got one.....so I didn't bother looking for it!

Mines a 2002 2.0l HPi estate.

Well had another look today and cannot locate it if it has one. The only place it could be is above the fuel tank so I'm not gonna worry about it. Thanks for your answers guys.

And just for anyone searching for 'fuel filter' in the future...

USE HOSE CLAMPS!!!!

It really does suck to have the contents of your fuel tank p*ssing all over you while you struggle to replace the damn thing. Must have lost a good couple of quid worth of fuel last time I tried it!
