Hello All, I would appreciate some advice for those of you who have done it before on changing the turbo 1.9 TD. What is involved and parts needed for a successful exchange. Many thanks
H

i think its quite easy, remove lower engine movement limiter, support engine with jack, remove intercooler pipes, then inlet manifold, you need to unbolt the egr from it first, unbolt turbo from downpipe, remove oil supply and return pipes, then unbolt the exhaust maifold and take it out with turbo attached

Have you done one? I'll take any advice you have before I decide to have a crack at it or not! I owe you a beer anyway, may as well add to the quota

try the 2.1 td then , first thing it says in the haynes manual is " remove engine "

Haynes says that for everything on the 2.1. I'm surprised you don't have to remove the engine to change gear...

i think its the fact that the haynes people were just too bloody lazy or couldnt find a 2.1 to tinker with

Not so sure, there's a hell of a lot of engine there and not much room around it.

Thanks James, great help , will be changing it on sat. Are the gaskets reusable or would you recommend new ones?

I wouldn't risk it, they only cost a couple of quid apparently.
