I was thinking linkages 'til I got to that bit, is your clutch disingaging? Can you stick it in reverse without it complaining loudly?

I was thinking clutch too
Need more information! Is it graunching when you put it into a specific gear or random?
With the engine off, can you move the selector through all the gears?

ello peeps... well, turned out good 4 me so far...
after remembering that when i got my cam + pump done by peugeot themselfs... they damaged the clutch hydraulics.... clucth master AND the clutch slave.....They did however replace what the broke F.O.C so i phoned the garage that Repaird the car... and askd to speak to one o their tech guys about the problem... as soon as they said the hydraulics, i asked to be put back to the reception and told them.... as all their work is coverd with 12months warrenty
they are repairing it, as i have got a hire car, and they have orderd the parts.... THANK FU*K for that LOL

Thats is good very good, most garages would have tried to get out of it.
Mine is going back in this week for warranty repair, when i had new DMF and clutch I also had the crankshaft oil seal changed (£10 v £300+ labour). its been slowly leaking oil ever since (6 months, 15k+), when i took it back first time they said it was sump gasket. I've done the sump gasket twice now and still leaking, so took it back last week they still reckoned (as they would) it was sump gasket and re-did it on a if it still leaks they will refund me.
When i picked it up they didn't charge me, i drove to work still leaking! So its going to be a fun day+ for them to strip it down to replace £10 oil seal correctly!
When i spoke to them on the phone they said they had one in which was leaking from a "bung" above the crankshaft. I think they may be pulling my leg, or lining me up to try and get me to pay something. Which won't happen, it simple before they had car no oil leak, after they had car oil leak = there fault. To be fair they have been pretty good about this so far thou.
I am moving next weekend so will not need the car to get to work, so if they do try to charge me i will just leave the car with them. Also having there loan car which could be useful bargaining tool.

they probably didnt fit the thing properly
its quite easy to do, i done it once on an old volvo 940, but thankfully on these it take 20 mins to get the 'box out

thats what i think, reading the haynes book of lies there is a lip you have to get the right way, may not have got it right.....
would be nice to finally have a car that didn't leak oil, especially as it will soon be sat on a new clean drive.

They should have done it when they did the clutch. You have to have the gear box out of the car to access the clutch, so they need to drain the gear box and remove drive shafts etc.

Well done Nipper
mbell, please be aware that the garage will notice that you've recently had major surgery on the engine (cambelt slipped) and may try to pin the oil leak on that. I wouldn't be surprised.
I know it's all at the other end of the crank but hey

Still worth trying though. Hell, they'd probably try and blame it on a dent in your boot lid

well they had it for a day and half last week to do sump and dint say anything. fact is it was leaking for months before i had the head work done and they know that as i took it back a week or two after the originally did it.
I think its pushing it a lot to blame a long term leaking crankshaft oil seal on anything to do with the head work! I have no plans to pick the car up until they have done the work.
I've just dropped it off so we'll find out in th next day or two. got a m reg 3 door escort as loan car, only driven it 1/2 a mile and i miss the 406!
