406 bosch onto 306

Right 406 and 306 are different. 406 has random electrical bits.

A friend is attempting to wire the 406 bosch to his 306.

Does anyone have any idea what the sensor un the underside of the pump is about?

And is the potentiometer on top of the 406 'throttle' arm egr related? An therefore can be ignored? Or what is it?

Thanks for any help.

PS. to bypass the immob you run the red ignition live to the top of the stop solenoid, but what do you do with the earth? where does it go to? Solenoid shield is already removed for access to max-fuel screw :)

Oh yea, if anyone has a 406 haynes can they turn to the circuit diagram pages and just let me know what wires are goin to the pump. Til i see what similarities there are between 306 and 406.

Thankyou.

why use a 406 pump? there a lot more complicated to get working. a 405 bosch pump is much easier to fit, has no immobiliser, and much simpler to wire.

i fitted the 406 engine to my 306 and used my orig lucas pump. Then sold the 406 pump (which already has stop solenoid shield cut off), a fire damaged bosch 306 pump, mounting braket, pulley, injector pipes, leak off pipes, and 4 bosch injectors dirt cheap to a mate. And now we're trying to figure out how to get her running on his 306.

So, do i run the red ignition live wire on the black immobiliser plug to the top of the stop solenoid? And what about the green earth?....where does it go to?

Still dont know what this sensor thingy on the underside of the 406 pump is though.... the 306 bosch doesnt have it.

ANYONE?

Possibly something to do with advancing the injection timing?
