apparently they fit in the 2.0 turbo engine and (having owned one for >2 years) think they'll make a massive difference to that engine. A 1.8 on the other hand already has decent throttle response and I don't know if they fit.
I wouldn't bother it if were me. Save up for a 2.0 16v, 2.0 turbo or V6 and then look at modifying.

tbh i may just get rid of it as my previous car was a v6 calibra and that was running 220bhp as i changed cams etc and i really want a 406 v6 now as i miss the power too much and the v6 roar, but i dont think mine is worth that much

the 1.8 head is exactly the same casting as the gti-6 so the cams, inlet manifold and exhaust manifold will all fit. it will probably want a remap after to get it running bang on mind.
mjb: they wont fit the turbo engine as there 16 valve cams. they dont have inlet and exhaust lobes on them. they have two lobes per cylinder but there there in exactly the same place as they open two valves instead of one.
