406 HDI (90bhp) slow/not properly pulling away when cold...

Hi,

for a few weeks now I have had the problem that my car really doesn't wanna pull away when the motor is cold. It's a 2004 406 HDI (90bhp) with around 128k miles on the clock.

It starts without problem, and when you start it it just runs fine (i.e. motor doesn't run on low revs when cold, or stutter etc.) But if I try to pull out of my driveway I hardly get away. 2 times it even killed the motor. That behaviour is only for the first few kilometres, and then it just runs fine. but it can be a pain in the ass when standing at trafic light or roundabout.

It has recently been serviced, and had new Fuel, Air and Oil filters. The only difference I have found that my mpg went down slightly from 50 mpg to around 47.

Any ideas?

P.S. I had a look at the sticky (FAQ), but that doesn't seem to be the same Issue.
