My old 406 had done 219,000 before finally succumbing to wear and tear (not the engine, mind, but everything else!). My new one has 86,000. Both of them are 1.9TDs.

231,000 miles 2000 hdi90 estate. Its got newish tyres, I hope they get to wear out.

Maybe a new thread could read " How many miles had you're pug covered when you scrapped it?"

I used to change the oil/filter about every 6000 miles. I don't do it anymore as the mechanic said its overkill. One thing i do use is the forte diesel conditioner which is specifically designed for common rail/hdi engines. This is what most of the garages use even when you put the motor in for a service even if they don't tell you. Does the same sort of thing as the millers. Its trade only but some motor factors stock it if you know where to look. After the front suspension spring snapping last week i think the rear suspension might be worth a look at next year makes you think a bit. Still having trouble cracking the lower balljoint
even after using the hammer on it after seems to be welded!
Thanks
I change mine every 8000 on the Hdi, I used to change the XUDs at 5000 but the Hdi is cleaner burning so the oil doesn't get as dirty, I think 12,000 is a bit high.

406 executive estate 1997 cc 2001 model,i purchased in 2008 at 158,000 miles, now over 303,000 miles and apart from battery, brakes, radiator, waterpump, cambelts, lower swivels, afew light bulbs, regular oil changes...... that's it,this has been by far the most reliable car I have ever owned in 30 years of driving......
grossly under valued, infact the design/reliability.....weather by hard work,or by accident by Peugeot,i fear will be hard to parallel by any manufacturer......
front pads and discs are near due for replacement,i am soley dedicated to keeping this car on reliability status alone, who knows,96,000 miles and she may do 400,000 miles.........
a perfect car,i wont be happy to let go.......thankyou peugeot
