hey everyone, just new 2 life in the 406, i've had 2 405's which i loved, lol

anyway, it wont boost at all, theres no spool up on it but i can see the air hose contracting when i rev it, i doesnt like revving above 4k i changed the plugs but nothing.

also tuning, i was thinking, stainless exhaust and manifold, dumpvalve, induction kit, front mount, remap, and a new turbo, i read on here that a nissan T28 bolts straight on, any other options for turbo's?? ford stage 1/2/3 hybrid? help is needed, i would like 2 see 200-250bhp

any help would be great

Liam

I can't read most of this post. Please try re-posting in English instead of 'txt spk'.

Sounds very much like your turbo is seized.

The XU10J2TE delivers everything at the low end. There's no point trying to go over 4000rpm.

Thanks for that, much better!

The air hose contracts because the engine is sucking in loads of air, but because the turbo's blocking the air supply, you've got a vacuum in there. When the turbo's boosting, the opposite is true. While the pipe won't swell, it will push your fingers out if you try to squash it while revving hard...

I've got no experience (yet) behind the engine block on tubbies, but Niz/James should be around soon(tm) with an answer. I think the general gist of things is the the turbo needs to come off and be rebuilt, but don't take my word for it!

The turbo's fail on these cars if driven hard alot as they get very hot down at the back there and the oil gets caked up etc.

You will need to get it reconditioned/uprated and if you're thinking of tuning this thing and then you will need alot of patience and deep pockets. This engine is a great torquey unit but it's no racer and it's no big-power unit either. If you want over 180 BHP (reliable) then look elsewhere I'm affraid :|

i know its never going 2 set the road on fire the main thing i want is the noises and look, i thought a frontmount, full system (including manifold) induction kit, bov, and a remap would be reliable and still surprise a few people, i just wasnt sure which turbo would be suited or what boost to run, and what power this would be sitting at.

does the nissan T28 bolt straight on or a T3 ford

Hi

with regards to tuning this engine would it be possible to fit a more aggressive cam and then remap the engine ecu to bring peak torque further up the rev range? Also could you fit a 16v head from another xu engine such as the 306 xsi or gti-6?

hi mate welome  a 205 gti 1.6 or 1.9 will help im geting my turbo custom mapped and having bigger injectors put in for a tad under a grand for 1500 they ad a custom cam for 230bhp-215 without the cam.told the gti cam will work ok but it aint made for a turbo so better to use a proper one. i will be very happy with 215 bhp :cheesy:
