ecu problem

02 90 hdi with siemens ecu wont start local garage came round & connected his code reader but couldnt get any reading so thought his reader playing up so towed car to main dealers they also cant get any readings & have said bsi is locked could need new one also new ecu ive phoned round & nobody seems to be able to do these siemens ecu's code no SID 801 5WS40024FJ if anyone knows someone who can either supply these units or repair them i would be gratefull if they could let me know as am in for a ooge big bill from main stealers els

I doubt the ECU will be faulty at all - moreover the wiring will be at fault! check the condition of the ECU harness plug and also under the drivers footwell carpet there are some connections/earths which can affect things.

You could try this too in the absence of any other help:

I'm no auto electrician here but I would be very surprised if the actual ECU was at fault.

Hi & thanks for replies whole story is ecu was sent away for re map when it came back car would not start so back again 3 times now they have put back my oridgional file on ecu but still wont go i think they've corrupted something when they removed the eprom they say not guilty so thats goingto be anouther problem for me later to try to prove that they foooked my ecu. James do you think that a spike from the corrupted ecu could wreck the bsi cos it looks like i will ave to get both bits unless someone can test bsi & make repair.
