Convert a l to an lx

My Dad is trading up ( a 607 2.2 HDi SE) and he is giving me his D9 base model (I think its called 'L' in England) to use as my own. Now, I have a D9 406 lx which is fine apart from the poor bodywork, engine, gearbox, bodywork, clutch, and did I say bodywork? His 406 is mint with an excellent engine, bodywork etc etc but the thing is so basic.

I want to basically take as much equipment from my lx and shove it into his one to make a 'super' 406 and then flog the other one for a song.

I am hoping some of the experienced members of the board can help me here and give me some pointers on each of the issues and things that I want to do. What I am proposing to do is as follows:

1) Seats swap

2) Display and CD player swap

3) Electric wing mirror to manual swap

4)Temperature gauge - Big Issue as i really want this to work in my new d9, I dont have a clue of how i will transfer it over as the wing mirror connections arent present where there is manual mirrors in his car

5) Climate Control - I know I wont be able to switch these around so I wont bother trying.

6) Chrome moulding removal - How the hell do I get this off without ruining the moulding or the bodywork?

Thats it really, not as daunting when its on paper

Any help would be greatly appreciated

So you posted the same question again on the same forum, isn't that a bit like buying a new tv because you don't like the programs you're getting on the old one??

There's nothing wrong with Dai's post, he told you as much as anyone could on here. The plain and simple fact is WE DON'T KNOW! If they were D8s then there's much can be done but D9s? I doubt if even Pug would be able to tell you for sure.

Remember, if you don't like the service you recieve on this here forum, there's always our complaint department:

I am hoping some of the experienced members of the board can help me here and give me some pointers on each of the issues and things that I want to do. What I am proposing to do is as follows:

1) Seats swap

why ?? have you sh*t on the others

2) Display and CD player swap

replace with non genuine they have displays on them !!

3) Electric wing mirror to manual swap

dont be fooking lazy use the lever !!

4)Temperature gauge - Big Issue as i really want this to work in my new d9, I dont have a clue of how i will transfer it over as the wing mirror connections arent present where there is manual mirrors in his car

tape a thermometer onto the mirror !!

5) Climate Control - I know I wont be able to switch these around so I wont bother trying.

open the fooking window if you are too hot ??

6) Chrome moulding removal - How the hell do I get this off without ruining the moulding or the bodywork?
jam a wide blade sscrewdriver behind it and give it a yank !!!

please be aware that some or all of these answers may not be correct as i dont know and was guessing :P :P

The problem is eoin everything runs throuh the bsi on the D9. You can swap anything you like which isn't wired in no probs, but the BSI needs reprogramming by your friendly pug dealer if you retrofit anything electrical.
I converted my LX D8 to a GLX, piece of piss because there's no "brain" to tell that it's got extra parts! ('leccy wing mirrors, leccy rear windows, trip computer)
You couldn't ask for a more helpful group of people than there are here! :D

LMAO!!!!!

Sorry about the black eye steve.

I'll make an exhibition out of this. I'm gonna take some 'before' pics of both cars and then I'll do the 'after' ones. The Jade Green 406 I'll be keeping is one fine colour. Watch this space!
