HDI Introduction Year?

Post by nickm »

Hi-Only just found this site after thinking the french car forum was the only one for pugs, i'm looking for some info, after having plenty of 1.9td 406's i've been offered a 1998 S registered peugeot 406 LX HDI 110 for very fair money--i've got to travel to see it and just wanted to make sure hdi engines came out this early-it does say so on the log book but i'm not so sure-any ideas? thanks!

the HDi engine was first engineered back in 1996, and made its first appearance in the 406 very late in 1998 only available in 110hp
not many were available at the time which is why there are so few

Hiya Nick, welcome 8)

Out of curiosity did you find this place by yourself or did you follow my link? I only recently discovered French Car Forum, good site but seems to be mostly Cirtoen, and they aren't nearly as friendly as the members ovr here   8)

Welcome Nick :D
£600 sounds good to me, find out the usual culprits, when/if it's had the clutch done, timing belt etc

The prices have really dropped. I bought my P-reg 406 tubby exec for £500 last july with 105,000 on it and FSH. I've had to spend some money on it but it's such a good car it really is worth it! :cheesy:

Sounds good to me. that money is cheap. to be honest any car with mot is worth £500 for a years driving. so if you can get a fsh hdi for £600 snap his hand off. Whats the most you can loose? £600? I payed £1650 for my 51 plate hdi exec. with 100k but i got no service history at all. so im gambling. welcome to the the club mate by the way. They are a crazy, but sound bunch in here.
