My Hdi 110 has 120k on the clock. I am getting clunking/rubbing noises from the rear left car wheel and I have narrowed it down to the handbrake (which is pretty non existent). I would like to do an overhaul and have read through some posts here which have been a help. I have disks at the back and I understand that there is a small hub for the handbrake shoes which is behind the disk.

I would like to buy everything I need to do the overhaul (shoes and any other new bits) so I don't have the car off the road for more than a day. Can anyone tell me:

1. Exactly what I need to buy in terms of replacement shoes, spring, clips etc (ideally serial numbers if possible!)
2. Where to buy it from (ideally the internet, as I don't have any nearby Puggy dealers).
3. Should I do both sides while I am at it?

You'll need new disc's and hand brake shoes, you should also change the rear break pads with the disks.

Try GSF or eurocarparts for the bits.

Very rough instructions are:

Put one side in the air, remove wheel. remove brake pads (remove clips and take pins out, slide pads out) push the piston in.

remove the caliper (had something to es it on.

remove rubber bung from drum part of disk and run hand breaker adjuster all the way in. remove the disk.

change the handbrake shoes, like you would on a car with drum brakes.

fit new disc, fit caliper, fit new brake pads. adjust hand brake with the adjuster, refit wheel.

the haynes manual has resonable instructions for this (especially on how to fit the springs to the hand brake shoes). fairly straight forward job, only problem i had where new brake pads dint leave remove for the shims and my pistons in the caliper where a little corroded, so the brakes started sticking after i did them!

Thanks for this, it's a great help. I popped the wheel off today and the disk looked really rusty and had quite a bad lip on it. I guess this needs replacing (as will the other side!).

Anway, I was about to pop the caliper off, when I noticed that it has a solid brake pipe going to it (as opposed to flexi). So if I unbolt the calliper I assume that I can't move it out of the way without damaging or undoing the brake pipe? Or is there enough 'bend' that it can be easily removed?
