Umm, apparently it's a big no no for the Lucas pump on the 2,1 too but someone's doing that. How would you like to be our guineapig?

if your gonna run on cheap diesel you might as well use red diesel cos the chances of getting dipped by the ministry in a car are almost zero and red diesel is currently around 50 p a litre and i know that the 2.1td and an 02 HDI run fine on them a " friend " told me

a friend is considering buying a bio diesel processor and i was wondering whether to go halves with him? but i wasnt sure whethet the hdi would like it red diesel ainnt so easy to come by though??

I know there's problems with running some diseasels on SVO, but doesn't proper biodiesel have stuff added to make it more fuel like?

Was just reading a thread about one of these home processing plants on one of the 4X4 forums, very clever indeed. The guys are changing waste veggie into clean bio for as little as 25p/l. Couple of grand up front investment for the proper kit though

its a case of filtering the waste oil then heating it and adding methanol and caustic soda to achieve the correct ph level,this guy is close to me

The HDi's pump and injectors have ultra-fine tollerances and as such can only run on the thinnest of fuels (Diesel). The HDi may run on the proper Bio they sell at the pumps (somewhere?) but I don't know - and the pump stuff is just as expensive isn't it?

The veggie derived stuff is too "thick" and causes things to clog up and go sticky.

It's only really the old school Diesels that will run on any old rubbish

I have been adding vegetable oil at a 5% ratio, bought from a supermarket, for the past 12 years to My Peugeot 406's. When VO was 50p a litre it was well worth it. Yesterday, it was £1.25 a litre in Tesco, so hardly worth the effort.
I never had any problems though I think 5% is probably as much as one should use.

See the thing is you can get different pcentages of B-Diesel...I'd be wary of 100% Biodiesel in a newer car as it attacks the seals in the engine! Stuff with a lower percentage might be OK but I'd want to check up on this first!

There are a few pugs in Sydney running around on a blend of petroldiesel and biodiesel...307 HDI 80kw - I'm not aware of any 406's?

Remember, Biodiesel is not as efficient as Petroldiesel, so you end up using more of it!
