i want to ask u a question ive heard that the original pistons of the sri 8v turbo arent good scince they cant handle the high boost so thats why they stopped its production so is it true?? i was planing to upgrade my 405 with the whole 406 sri turbo engine + adding a superchip which adds extar 30 horse power and 45 nm torque, also increasing the turbo boost to 5 psi, do i need any other modifications??is it better to add an engine management or the superchip?, if i planned to upgrade my turbo to a bigger one will the superchip work with it, after these modifications will it be like the t16 performance?/

The gearbox won't like it - they are made from glass and with the extra power it will come to a premature death within no time!

If you want to mod it - find a manual :)

They stopped production of the XU10J2TE because it wasn't a big seller. As it turns out it's actually one of the most reliable petrol engines around and is bulletproof when run at factory spec. However the turbo will likely fail under increased boost.

Yes unfortunately this engine is not one for the "tuners" I think the cost of making it stronger outways the fairly weedy gains in BHP.

Anyways - I thought all SRi's were Turbo'd?

Also if you have the slushmatc gearbox then definately don't uprate the power :| and the Auto box ECU and the Turbo map will be all out of sync (power delivery wise).
