hi all newbie to site just returned to the 406 fold after 4 year absence having bought a 52 plate hdi 90 and was wondering what is the interval for changing a timing belt the car has 77and half k on the clock and the previous owner has never changed it. pug technician at main dealer says 96k is the interval for the 2l hdi so was wondering if it would be ok to leave till nearer that mileage or get it done sooner any advice welcome.

tbh i would get it done now
if you think about it a belt and tensioner kit will cost you maybe £250 fitted but an engine will cost 4 times that

i always change the belts on any new car i buy even if i'm told it's been done that way i know it has
on my old mondeo i changhrd the belt every 18 months but i was beating the hell outta that car so i figured it was worth the cash (plus i have family who own a workshop so i get to use it free of an evening)
