Does anyone know the recommended timing belt change on a 1.9td 406? Mines has done 21,000 miles since the last change.
Im starting to get a bit nervous because a lovly snap up the road wouldnt be all that pleasant

I think it's 15 feet. Or every Tuesday, whichever comes first.
(72,000 miles)

I think it's every 72,000 off the top of my head Jim; Haynes will have the numbers!
Depends how you drive the car and if it had an original or pattern belt fitted.

if i remember correctly there are only a few companys who make timing belts and due to costs if they dont make it they buy it in so if i'm right (and i could well be wrong) then as long as its a "named" brand then it is a genuine original belt i got told this about 3 years ago by a goodyear rep
does it really matter how you drive the car though i didn't think it did but if so i'd like to know about it
where's the worried smiliecon when you need it??

Pug will tell you 72k, but any decent mechanic will tell you every 50-60k or every 5years. For all the cost of a belt (around £15) and its a piece of piss to fit, leaving it overdue is stupid as hell to me.
ps. jim, you dont by anychance have a 1.9td or 2.1td engine sitting about busted or not? may be after one.
