thats very strange mine does exactually the same its only every no and then when it happens but there is a drop in power hope some 1 can help us out on this 1

That does sound very strange indeed, although I gather the engine ecu does use input from the vehicle speed sensor, as does the trip computer (next time it does it have a squint at this to see if your car actually thinks it's stationary).

The cable connection is loose somewhere. possibly at the back wheel hub. I've driven 3 406's and they all did it every now and again. No biggie. The Air flow meter is sensitive to speed, and if it thinks its doing 0mph then it will turn off.
