I have had some grinding noises on the rear of my 2.1td D8 estate for a while ... only when I go round left hand bends....
After a long time trying to track down the source I have finally found it the rear offside handbrake adjuster is just touching the rear hub - the bit where the brake disc and road wheels bolt on to.
I have just been on servicebox to find the part numbers for the new adjusters but theres bugger all listed... anyone able to point me to the page. I have punched in my VIN etc and looking on http://public.servicebox.peugeot.com/do ... 4%2047A10A
but theres no number for the adjusters tween the shoes ....
If anyone can find the number for the adjusters and the 2 springs that hold the handbrake shoes together it would be very much appreciated

I can't find it either (I used the VIN from my D8 2.1 estate), only for drum brakes
Nice one Pug

I should have thought about looking there last night while I had the arse of the car in the air! Well done for spotting that - when I get my car back I'll have a look see if that's what's causing my identical symptomslegoless wrote:I have had some grinding noises on the rear of my 2.1td D8 estate for a while ... only when I go round left hand bends....

If I get sufficiently bored tonight I'll have a look see if I can find the p/n for you
What's actually wrong with your adjuster which makes it hit the hub? Is it bent or something?
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang
Re: FYI -Grinding noise on rear brakes and a ?
It has just enough play to move about and it makes the exact noise I`m hearing when i put a tiny bit of pressure on it with my hand and let it touch the hub and spin the hub itself .. so I thought I had it finally sussed.
However.....
Today I went to the main stealers and was told... the adjusters and spring are only available as a complete kit that you get when you buy the hand brake shoes..... for £125 quid odd.... so I`m gonna raid the breakers for some. Thats why theyre not on service box as a seperate item
I also found when I just had the brake disc on without all the brake pads calipers shoes etc mounted I could also get some noise if I didnt have those little torx screws done up much tighter then I normally have them, I`m wary of the little blighters after the fun and games I had with the very first set I had to undo.
So before you go too far make sure you copper grease up the above screws and tweak em down a bit tighter than normal and try a test run.
My backplate was rusty so I did a real good clean up and put some cure rust on it to stop it getting any rustier.
This grating has driven me nuts as everything has been checked and I found no movement in any suspension parts or hub but by simply cleaning the rust , checking the handbrake was adjusted properly and finally putting a bit of teddy on those screws it has finally disappeared. ( i have cleaned the discs a few times already but never got rid of the left hander grating noise)

They are scum!!

Addendum: The back plates on my D8 are terrible, they're made out of sheet steel and are always rubbing on the disks. New ones are rather pricey (something like £80 a piece) and removing the hub bearings means destroying them (according to HBoL) (£180 a piece

On the other hand, 250ml of Hammerite Kurust costs £6.29...
