XUD11 Engine replacement

Post by poddack »

I have recently fitted a replacement XUD11 to my 406 estate, everything has been connected correctly and has a home apart from I can't connect the fuel line to the fuel filter pipe and the vacuum pipe from the brake servo doesn't mate with the vacuum pump, there is also another provision on the vacuum pump for something else.

If you can help, pictures would be most helpful.

I can take some pictures of mine if it helps, although I might not get time to do it today. I'd better mention it's a left hooker but I don't think that'll make much difference.

There's your answer then, mine's got a straight pipe going from the pump to the servo:

Either block it up with whatever or go back for the rest of it :cheesy:

I tried to get as many pics of the feed & return pipes as I could (not entirely sure which is which  ) but let me know if you need anything clarified.

Just out of interest...

The engine is running sweetly and the brakes are woking.

Wouldn't that bulb-like thing be a hand-pump with a one-way valve to prime the engine if it runs out of diesel, making the white one the feed and the green one the return?

That's what I thought, although I wasn't sure why the green one would be going straight to the pump, with some sort of damper/filter below the primer bulb and the primer bulb doesn't necessarily need to be on the feed if there's one-way valves about. Thinking about it though, it must be the white 'cos it goes to the filter. :?

On a separate note, where is the best place for the air intake pipe that leads to the air filter ??

I got my XUD11 2nd hand and it was behind the radiator which does`nt make much sense, or ?

Cheers

Should head straight down the radiator then bend round to end up forward facing at the side of the rad

He failed his MOT for brakes, anti roll bar ends, and silly stuff which will be sorted this week. Emissions were very low as expected for a diesel. He's certainly got some go in him, chose a garage a few miles away to blow the cobwebs out, smoother and not as much turbo lag as I've experienced in some other newer diesels. WHOOSH!
