As the garage i usually use do not work on a/c units ,i have booked my pug
in at another local garage that do,they are going to fit the compressor that i
bought some time ago , test and re gas it for £155. I have never used them before
so am keeping fingers crossed i dont have any of the bad experiences mentioned
on here recently. (all of this is subject to main stealers recieving seals and pressure
sensor on time

)

You'll be fine Puggy, after all there's not much left that you haven't replaced now
Bet you can't wait for that superb a/c now
I still sayte 406's a/c is THE best I've experienced

I'm with you there Puggy, it's horrible when you turn start the engine and get blasted with hot air as it tries to cool the cabin!

Well got the car back fitted with new compressor and pressure sensor
and ac is working a treat yippeeee

been vacum tested and everything
and am told is fine, one thing we found ,the old pressure sensor had been
leaking where the electical contacts fit into the top of the sensor
wonder how many times has that been responsible for no gas in people's ac

That is cool Puggy (pardon the pun).
And interesting too about the sensor leaking (be worth bearing in mind for any future a/c threads).
The next two weeks are forecast to be cooler but you've still got Aug, Sept and Oct which will all require the a/c in one form or another
What's it cost you in all?

well its very nearly 2yrs since i bought the car and over those 2yrs
everything, apart from the evaporator in the dash, has been changed
to try and cure it

The cost is around £745 that includes everything,
even the several re gasses

would have been more but i managed several
months ago to buy a brand new pug compressor off ebay for £95 instead of
the main stealer price of £600.
I truly believe if the so called experts had found the leak in the pressure sensor
and not overfilled it just so it would work and they could take my money it
would have cost nowhere near this, the incompetent fookin robbing twats

WOW!!!! I bet you had your nose
glued to the monitor that week
If it's any help I spent £900.00 on the FTO's a/c then crashed it and £500.00 on the Honda's then sold it
The thing is - if it's got a/c then it MUST work! well it has for me anyway. One thing I have learnt though is that 7/8 years is about your lot before disaster strikes (unless you own a D8 of course, those things have excellent a/c systems).

Totally agree with you welly, couple of friends have said i must be
mad to spend that on the ac,but i am with you , if its there its got to
work ,it was one of the things i looked for when i bought the car.

Pressure sensor? How does that work? I can't see any retaining mechanism..
