hi just bought the abouve car as a family car and the brakes are shot and need replaced what are the best brake pads and discs to buy , was thinking of mintex but that will cost me almost 120 quid, is this overkill?? do i need these brakes or is there a cheaper brand that is just as good a quality?
so if thats correct then as long as its a branded product it will be within those tolerances if i remember correctly then mintex ferodo delphi lockheed and girling are all speced above the 100% oe level
but everyone has a favourite make based on experiance or word of mouth so while i like ferodo and delphi then someone else will tell you that those brands are rubbish and use girling or mintex
in the end it's down to a personal taste and pocket the best thing you can do is ring round local factors and see what is available then make your choice based on what you find just make sure it's a branded make

You sure about that? I wouldn't have thought brake pads with twice the performance would be illegal...? Non-existent (at road temperatures) sure, but not illegal... Then again, this is the same bunch of bureaucratic muppets that have been dragging their feet for so long over LED lighting
As for part recommendations, I'd just grab Lucas pads/discs/shoes from a local motor factor. Cheap as chips and exactly the same components Peugeot designed the car to use, except without the blue box that seems to warrant a 500% price hike

well tbh i really don't know if it's a branded product eg ferodo then yes it's gotta be to this reg 90 but then i'm sure that the green stuff performance range is also reg 90 i guess that it just carrys on working for longer when hotter
i was under the impression that the reg 90 just ment that it had to create the same braking force (+/-10%) as the original stuff but didn't take into account repeated use of them or the continued heat build up from continued hard use

Personally i am a fan of mintex stuff. previous two cars i have thrown on mintex stuff with a noticeable improvement in breaking. I think i covered around 30 or 40k (i can check this if you really want) with them and they where still working well and had lots of meat left.
I think it cost me around £200 for the full set of brakes (2 sets of discs, 2 sets of mintex pads and set of hand brake shoes). Cost is relative, if you spend a little bit more, but get twice the use out of them, then they are actually cheaper.

That surprises me; I've had Mintex discs/pads/shoes in for a year now and the brakes have never felt crap (mind you, you do a hell of a lot more driving than me Em!)
