Hi guys was wondering if you could help me...
got 406 2.2 hdi, went to the city shopping today 136 miles is our nearest heard a loud ticking noise, just had crank shaft pulley replaced 2 weeks ago and passed mot on wed, only noticed this as we arrived so drove carefully home, all seemed ok until I drove into my street when I braked and changed into 2nd the car felt so lumpy and thought it was going to cut out, had to hold the revs high to get into my drive and switched off engine before it died. Opened bonnet but couldnt see anything tried to start it, it felt lumpy so switched engine off it never actually started felt like not enough power to start. No warning lights came on and water and oil temp was fine. Will need to get a tow on Mon but looking for ideas to what has went wrong....
As I turned into my street there was a sound from passenger side I thought it was the ac as it was a kind of whirring noise..
thanks ....
65,000 miles and timing belt replaced at 61,000

Ac pump's on the drivers side (well, on yours anyway). Sorry to say this but my biggest worry would be that whoever did your crank pulley was a clown and the timing belt's slipped. Could be other things but with nothing else apparent, first check should be the valve timing. They usually sound awful but if it's only a couple of teeth maybe not. Oh yes, don't run it until you know. Good luck!

I know the what you mean. It maybe ok, maybe it's only a few teeth out and just enough to upset stuff - compression, injection timing - to stop it running without doing anything permanent. Hey, I hate to panic you when it might not even be that but it's best to be on the safe side, if it has started slipping it might do it some more...

Cheers let you know on Mon hopefully it will be ok but knowing my luck...... the ticking wasnt there when we left this morning and no warning lights came on, did hit a nasty pothole also noticed ( will describe) a hot smell thought it was car in front at traffic light only when you were stationary
cheers

Hi guys, got car towed down to garage today and it was the no 2 injector that had blown, was hard to free as it was covered in carbon but after being given a good clean tried it and everything was fine.
Thank goodness, £25 and sorted

Thank krist! Sorry to worry you there but I reckon it's better to be safe than sorry, that new crank pulley two weeks ago had my alarm bells a-ringing.
Hold on a mo, £25 quid? What exactly does "blown" mean?

emm dont know

blocked

whatever its running lovely just now there was fuel getting spat out behind and it was hard to come out as it was full of carbon you will have a better idea than me...I wish I didnt had to go to work and then I would have been able to watch step by step and take pics, I would love to get in about the engine

think the man must be demented with me

,
yep £25 including the tow which was my first, he thought I might have needed a new injector but once it was cleaned it was just fine...... does that sound normal

No, it don't, with those miles I'd have thought everything was spotless

Weird! never heard of choked up HDi injectors before
Have you been driving it like grandad?
Glad it's sorted though, and for £25.00 that's a result for sure!
