Handbrake adjustment

Hello all. does anyone know how to adjust the handbrake cable, is it a diy job or garage ?? Peugeot 406 hdi 90 V reg

Depends, if you can get the back end in the air then (as far as I remember) it's 2 10mm spanners, if you want to do it properly and you have disk-in-drum brakes back there you have to slacken the handbrake cable, wind the adjusters up 'til they're just skimming the drums (you'll need to take the rubber bung out the drum to get to the adjusters, then use a torch, a small screwdriver and a lot of patience), then adjust the cable so you can't turn the disks by hand on three clicks of the handbrake. If you've got drums only then they're auto adjusters so ignore them (unless they're stuck...)

Funny you should say that, I replaced rear discs, pads & shoes earlier in the year and I got a warning in the MOT for 16% handbrake efficiency!

My D9 can do handbrake skids! (yes, that's why I've been building up my right arm :oops: ). I'll not be trying it in the D8...

The only car I tried that in was my little Fiat Uno in a car park covered in virgin snow :cheesy:
Mind you I was only 17 :lol:

Tried to after having the disc's pads and shoes changed on mine,the result ??,
eventually came to a stop and my passenger passing the comment " what were
you trying to do then you prick " :oops: :cry:
