My friend at work has a very nice 406 110 hdi se estate 53 plate. And he has been getting anti polution fault come up on his dash which i have said it has a fap filter. He had a 90bhp hdi estae before which was a lot quiter and smoother. When it puts a 406 into limp mode what are the signs lack of power crap fuel economy?

It has covered over 130k

I think it basically kills the turbo. Have a search, it's not necessarily the FAP (btw pollution has two Ls in it ). I think they only fitted the FAP to some late D9 2.0 110s, mine's an '04 but it hasn't got one (phew!)

If he leaves it what will happen? Fail the mot on emisions? Will it cause any damage?

He was told it does not have a fap but why does it flash up on the screen anti POLLUTION fault.

I think it was the garages way of saving money . He has had the fault cleard but still flashes sometimes.

I wouldn't have bothered saying anything 'cos my speling's not the best in the world but if you were going to do a search then there's a better chance of a result
