Crank shaft pulley

Hello,

Just to bore you all, because you have seen this all before, I have had 4000 trouble-ish free miles in my pug since I finished it.
Thursday morning started ok but squealed a bit, I drove 10 yards then the power steering stopped and alternator light came on.
Crank pulley had worked loose and eaten the woodruff keys, accessory belt also come off, sent him to Citrotec since I'm a bit engined out after the last few months.

Hopefully it won't have damaged the crank.

P.S.
AA provided me with a brand new Zafira 1.9DTI to drive in the meantime, goes like stink, power steering is rubbish even in sports mode, you feel detached whilst driving and is very placky and tacky inside.

Why does a 10 year old Peugeot feel and drive better than a new Vauxhall?

Not a CDTi? 'cos you're used to the Pug? I dunno, my dad has one, 150bhp sport, he says it's great, easy to get in & out of (he's 75), nice to drive, low enough for the dogs to get in and out of too (they're no spring chickens either), just the bone shaker suspension (shouldn't have gone for a sport then ). How do you find the blind spot?

Because Pug's are meant to be good to drive (drive of your life...), vauxhalls are for reps or family who just need to get about

You were lucky that the belt just flew off rather than got tangled up and ripped through the cambelt casing

Having recently bought a 2003 Astra I can say thumbs up to Vauxhalls for sure. In fact I've just done a brim to brim MPG test (only because you can brim an Astra with £50.00) and it returned 30.8MPG! not bad for a 1.8 petrol and purely urban very cold weather use.

It wasn't so long ago I was a devout Vauxhall fan, I had a MK3 Astra TDS for 10 years. Solid little car, Isuzu lump just went on forever and ever and ever, nice to drive and was quite fast.
Then after he died I got a Cavalier petrol to tide me over while I was fixing the Peugeot.

Now after driving the Peugeot, there's NO going back, this is a far better car by miles. Handling, ride, poke, buttons, you name it.

Anyway, I was lucky "this time", a new pulley, woodruff keys and new cambelt kit to be safe.

Nice to hear your pug is back to what it should be . Im at the other end of the scale Have had around 15 pugs and this is my last. Dont rate vauxcrap or dagnem dustbins aka fords. I was shocked that my mates on an 02 plate zetec so called sporty focus 2.0 thing you dont get an outside temp gauge. And the dash is crap and cheap. I shall be looking at a alfa 159 diesel or honda accord diesel next. But the 406 is such a hard act to follow!!!

mmmmmm, the pug is smoother to drive and a bit nippier, maybe expert timing or the forte injector cleaner they shoved in the tank.
Yellow light still on though, stop solenoid in the injection pump is stcky, won't cause me any problems or won't get any worse by all acounts.
So if another dose of forte doesn't help, i'm just going to ignore it.
