Just been to Tesco's for a generic Chicken, Bacon & Lettuce sandwich (has been produced in a Factory where other nut based products are made) (bloody school kids nicked all the best Sarnies ) and upon my return to the beast the in-tank fuel pump didn't kick in

"Right" - I thought, I'll just stay cool and keep trying the ignition and look casual wrong! it just wouldn't kick in (just to note for future readers DON'T keep turning the engine over on the HDi as it will wreck the high pressure fuel pump due to no Diesel lubrication. Generally if the HDi doesn't fire after 3 or 4 revolutions of the starter then something's wrong and you need to leave it).

So now I had to get out, get down on one knee and "slap" the tank then when I tried the key I heard the grumble of the lift pump and off I went.

*goes off to ring mechanic as "customer of the season"*

Tesco near my work has gone to "healthy" versions, which just means they've taken the slime stuff out of them. Ruined them for me (not which they weren't ruined before)

Pisser that is Welly, the only bit of that car you haven't changed is the squidgy organic bit behind the wheel.

I'm into the £1.19 pasta pots at Tesco at the moment, good if you like a bit of chicken, bacon and pasta with your mayo, not good if you're on a diet (summat like 90% of your RDA of fat). You'll find them by the salad stuff. 150% the size of the £1.99 ones they sell by the sandwiches just 'cos there's no fork included. Tesco also sell packs of 25 plastic forks for 44p

I like the breakfast sarnies from morissons petrol station, loooooovely!

Gah! By this time next year you'll have replaced the entire car twice over

The mileage is 124,000 and I was warned on here when I first started (by turbolag I think) that the pumps fail at around 120K

174K black beauty only had 50K? when you bought it.

I guess age as well as mileage comes into these things.

Just to add my penny's worth, my pump went last week (HDi, 118,000 miles on the clock). Bad news was that our local dealer wanted £207 for a new pump. Good news was that our local Bosch agent got me one same day for £90. Old one out and new one in in only 30 mins. Mode of failure was a heavily worn commutator; the pump part itself looked like new.

My previous Hdi 90 Xsara had 86,000 miles on the clock when I bought it & reached 185,000 before I got the Pug.
It was an ex lease company vehicle which came with a printout of everything done to it up till I got it, so I'm pretty sure it's still on the original pump, which didn't get any noisier over 4 yrs & 100k.

Pity the crankshaft pulleys weren't as relaible

175,350 actually.

You think thats high ?
My other motor is a 56 plate.
I got the keys when it had 899 on the clock.
This week it had 256,000 on it, momentarily.
It did 3006 on this 5 day trip alone.















Mind you, it's a Merc', not a Pug.
