Unfortunately the 307's in the early years were plagued with electrical faults (something the 406 doesn't really suffer) I'm not sure anyone on here will know you might have to do more searching on the web.

Is there a 307 owners club anyone?

Have a butchers at this forum, it may help http://www.ilexa.co.uk/forum/index.php? ... board=22.0

Argh! Pipped at the post by Welton! Booger it...

Hi there. Do you have a 406 or are you trying us for answers? (Not that we're actually bothered)

Do what?

It sounds like an immobiliser issue but 406s usually spin but don't start, please describe this light - I can't imagine why they'd need one and I can't find it in the handbooks. Or is it something that come up on the multi-function display? I'd suggest checking the starter connections if it wasn't for this light...

Umm, silly question warning - it's not automatic is it?

First and easiest thing to check is the fuse for the starter - you'll have to look in your handbook to find out which one.

If it's good, stick a multimeter over the starter motor terminals and have someone turn the key. If there's power there you've got a dodgy starter, otherwise you've got an electrical fault. I'd try changing the relay first, else it's an expensive trip to the dealers
