As the title suggests, it says A/C on the switch, but because I have never used it I thought id give it a go.
So as its cold I’d had the blower on hot and I thought if its A/C it'll just go cold as ice (willing to sacrifice) but after flicking the switch and waiting around 5 mins it got no colder, it was about as warm but with a bit more oomph behind it. As it’s a 98 I didn’t think it would have Climate control.
So is it A/C or is it Climate control

If it's got push button controls and an LCD display where you can set the desired temp (and a button marked AUTO) it's Climate. Knobs and an A/C button is A/C.
Actually I can't remember whether there was an A/C but not C/C version of the D8??

in that case then do you think my "air con" needs topping up?

It depends how long since you have not used it. If too long, the seals will have failed and topping up will be a waste of time and money. A repair will be very expensive. Incidentally AC can heat the car as well as cool it.

A/C will only blow cold if you set the dial to cold, the main effect of A/C is that it dehumidifies the air, meaning it demists the screen really quickly in the winter.
I think QuickFit have a "refill for £25" offer going right now, they knock the price down in the winter as nobody thinks to get it checked
