auxilary belt tensioner

hi i have a 96 1.9 td with 150.000 the auxilary belt tensioner has failed twice in the space of a month wiping out the timing needing new timing belt @120 a time does anybody know if this is a common fault

If it failed within a month of being fitted it's likely whoever put it on messed up the tensioning. Either that or something's siezed...
