hdi 90 with erratic tickover

on my way home from work today the car started fine and off i went when i got to the roundabout i started braking and got to a stop then when the car had stopped moving the tickover dropped from 800 rpm to about 300 rpm and allmost stalled then picked backup to normal 800 rpm it is now happening everytime i come to a stop in the car any ideas anyone

Could be a load of crap in the injectors. Do you let it run low? Also the fuel you are using. I only use shell diesel extra and also millers diesel sport4 every fill up. Its around £12 from halfrauds I would try the millers and shell diesel.
And see how you get on.

cheers for that rappy i do let it run low i will go and get some millers and give it a go i will keep you posted on how i get on

Yes that sounds like your problem. With the millers i would just use it as double strength for the first few fill ups. So i would for every £10 of diesel use a full shot.

I would say it was more to do with an idle sensor or whatnot, I know my car holds around 850 rpm until you come to a complete stop whereupon it drops again nicely to 800 or so electronically. Could be something wrong with baggies?

Hi Welly, yes you could be right. Its just the fact that its only done it since he let the fuel run right down. Not saying Im a 100% right but that would be my first option fuel cleaner through it first. As like most things process of ellimination
