Anti Pollution Fault - 2L Petrol

Post by perils »

Hi all,

I started the car on Saturday (cold morning) and the engine management light lit with a beeping from the dash.
Also in the MFD the "Anti Pollution Fault" was displayed.

I drove the car to work this morning and as I start the car I get one beep from the dash and a quick flash on the MFD but the engine management light stays on all the time now...

The car seems to be running ok, no coughs or splutters..

I think that my cat has been rattling for a while now and my question is with this warning displayed has my cat finally given up the ghost ??

47,000 miles.

Any ideas guys ??

Cheers

What is this? Anti-Polluton week? :?

Sorry fella, there's been loads :?

I blame the extreme cold.

I guess yours is a Petrol engine so not too sure myself. A sensor has detected something outside of it's parmeters and flagged a fault - sometimes doing nothing is best to begin with though :|

Have a check around at the tail pipe for excessive soot or indeed a lack of flow - if it feels weedy then the CAT may have broken up and is partially blocking the flow (and affecting the Lambda readings?) of course your performance will also be less in this case.

I had the same problem with my petrol 406, it comes and goes all the time. Peugeot put it onto the computer and nothing was being recorded. With no loss in performance, I have just driven away and let it come on and off as it wants. The only thing the stealer did say, was that it was a common petrol peugeot fault and what they would do, is to change the water temperature sensor! Strange, the fault even appears when the car is cold, so I said no thanks to their wisdom or lack of it.

Finally an end to my running problems........

On Tuesday the car just wouldn't move and wanted to stall......

Turns out that the engine was running on 2-3 cylinders...

New coil pack fitted, like having a new car now..... Sorted !!
