You can get handhelds for about £30 and PC interface ones for about £50 IIRC. Do a search fella, we've had that discussion a couple of times on here, there's plenty of info about compatibility hidden away in these pages

not for d8s that happen to have physically-compatible obd sockets... i keep intending to get a multi-protocol one to test, but if it doesn't work I could have had a bloody good pissup for the money instead!
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

Last time it did this it cost me £272 for a new EGR valve.
Will get the code reader out tomorrow (or maybe Saturday ) and keep y'all posted!
How long ago did you get this done and is it still under warranty? The main stealers told me that there were no codes being recorded even though the lights and messages were appearing on the radio display. BUT they did say when this problem occurrs, their fix is to change the water temperature sensor.
Mine, I havent done anything about it to be honest, as it comes and goes. Just one of the features I suppose.
It's gone! I've just come home from work, including a stop at the post office, then switched off and re-started when I got home, so that's 3 starts with no fault messages and no light! Let's hope the bloody thing stays away
While I was with a customer today he metioned he's also got the anti-pollution message and the engine mgt light on for the last couple of days on his petrol C4 (he's actually got a headlight bulb out too , a bit too much coincedence going on here! ), so he's coming up tomorrrow for a go on the diagnostic too. There's a real spate of these recently ain't there? I wonder if it's the cold / wet / combination thereof that's causing it?

I get the Antipolution message say once every few months, but usually it's just the one start, then on the next start it's cleared. I've even turned it straight off and started it again when the engines cold and it's cleared. Very unusual for mine to stay on for several starts (I reckon about 6 or 7 all together) over a couple of days...
Anyway I'm gonna read the codes now....

As i have owned my pug for over 2yrs now and never had a fault code or
warning light appear (apart from the obligatory brake fluid one ) all this
is bewildering to me
