HPi Antipolution Fault.

Post by DaiRees »

Bastard! 4 times in a row this evening with the Engine Mgt light staying on too....

Last time it did this it cost me £272 for a new EGR valve.

Will get the code reader out tomorrow (or maybe Saturday  ) and keep y'all posted!

Sorry to hear you've contracted the anti pollution virus too :( Good luck with it.

Is it possible to arm yourself with the kit to read the codes etc. off our cars at sensible cost?

You can get handhelds for about £30 and PC interface ones for about £50 IIRC. Do a search fella, we've had that discussion a couple of times on here, there's plenty of info about compatibility hidden away in these pages

not for d8s that happen to have physically-compatible obd sockets... i keep intending to get a multi-protocol one to test, but if it doesn't work I could have had a bloody good pissup for the money instead!

How long ago did you get this done and is it still under warranty? The main stealers told me that there were no codes being recorded even though the lights and messages were appearing on the radio display. BUT they did say when this problem occurrs, their fix is to change the water temperature sensor.

Mine, I havent done anything about it to be honest, as it comes and goes. Just one of the features I suppose.

It's gone! I've just come home from work, including a stop at the post office, then switched off and re-started when I got home, so that's 3 starts with no fault messages and no light! Let's hope the bloody thing stays away :cheesy: :cheesy:

While I was with a customer today he metioned he's also got the anti-pollution message and the engine mgt light on for the last couple of days on his petrol C4 (he's actually got a headlight bulb out too :o , a bit too much coincedence going on here! :| ), so he's coming up tomorrrow for a go on the diagnostic too. There's a real spate of these recently ain't there? I wonder if it's the cold / wet / combination thereof that's causing it?

Aha, I get antipollution now and again, the computer says it's over timing or something similar. It comes and goes. This is how it works Dai:

Something triggers the alarm, and makes the light come one. That stays on for a number of running hours /engine starts.

If after the set time/amount of starts the fault hasn't occured, the light and message will go off. If the alarm happens again, it all starts again.

Anyway, the fault will still be able to be read, it stores it until you remove it.

I get the Antipolution message say once every few months, but usually it's just the one start, then on the next start it's cleared. I've even turned it straight off and started it again when the engines cold and it's cleared. Very unusual for mine to stay on for several starts (I reckon about 6 or 7 all together) over a couple of days...

Anyway I'm gonna read the codes now....
